The “Italvapore” association is a purely a Tuscan reality but has members throughout Italy. It’s a heterogeneous group of people of all ages who share a common passion for trains: employees of the FS in active service, retired railway workers, private citizens, students etc.
Anyone can become part of the Association and take part in social life giving their contribution based on their availability, ability and leisure.
By its historical tradition, “Italvapore” is an active and operating association. Italvapore is an association recognized and affiliated with Fondazione Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, i.e. the italian national railways foundation that care and enhances the huge Italian railway heritage. ATTS Italvapore and its members perform a service based on pure volunteering, collaborating with FS staff on the occasion of the many historic trains that take place in Tuscany, or by providing its own contribution for small works and aesthetic restorations on the rolling stock in DORS Pistoia – Officina Rotabili Storici workshops and depot where ATTS Italvapore has its headquarters since 1995, year in which it is established as the first Italian association reality dedicated to restoration and maintenance of historic rolling stock.
